Traveling through ports like Barbados, Boston, Dover and St. Petersburg. With a length of 965 feet, it can carry 1,950 passengers.

Then there is the Island Princess, part of the Princess Cruises line. These ships were made famous by the TV series, "The Love Boat", which aired for 9 years. Besides this fact, the Island Princess and its sister, the Pacific Princess, are known for being the vessels with more worldwide destinations in the market. They hold 646 passengers on average and travel at a top speed of 21.5 knots.

The Golden Princess and the Coral princess cruise ship are also part of the line of Princess Cruises. The main difference in these vessels is their capacity. The Golden Princess is capable of supporting 2,600 guests to destinations in the Caribbean and Europe.

On the other hand, the Coral Princess was designed for traveling through the Panama Canal and to the Gulf of Alaska. It has a capacity for 1,950 passengers and offers such special features as a wedding chapel, an art gallery and even an ocean view gym.

The Mercury, also part of the Celebrity line of ships, carries 1,870 guests to destinations in Alaska, the Mexican Riviera and the Pacific Northwest. It was considered one of the top 10 worldwide cruisers by the Conde Nast Traveler magazine in February 2004.

Within the same company, the three Millenium cruisers include the Summit with a capacity for 1,950 passengers. The vessel entered service in 2001 and sails three routes to Alaska, Hawaii and through the Panama Canal.

Finally, the Oosterdam cruise ship is owned by the Carnival Corporation and is part of its Holland America line of cruisers. With a capacity of 1,848 passengers, it travels to the Mexican Riviera and the Pacific Northwest.

Although there still are plenty of vessels available that carry less than a thousand passengers, more and more people have come to prefer the large cruise ships with their luxurious accommodations and wide range of activities and amenities. These vessels, like the Mercury cruise ship or the Galaxy cruise ship are indeed floating resorts and will afford their passengers the vacation of a life time.
