Wipe Down Equipment

There are rules in spas and gyms you frequent at home, and the same rules apply at sea. When you finish with a piece of equipment wipe it down. Don't hog a piece of equipment if you see others are waiting for it. Wear workout clothes that are appropriate.

If you brought your own music along, travel etiquette requires you to be mindful that everyone doesn't share your tastes. Wear headphones. In your cabin or on a balcony, keep the sound down. The entire ship doesn't want to hear your rap music. Keep the volume on your TV down, especially when it's late.

There will be lines, for shore excursion packages, disembarking, and other activities. Why complain, you're on vacation! Patiently wait for your turn and chat with someone else in line. Complaining doesn't make the line move faster.

Listen to Instructions

Listen when a crewmember is giving instructions, especially during the muster drill. If you listen you don't have to ask questions later.

The unexpected may occur on your cruise, such as rainy weather, a storm or ship mechanical failure. The crew can't control the weather, so there's not much use complaining to them about it. If you're in the Caribbean, which is normally calm, you should be aware that hurricane season is six months a year, June through November, and it's possible you may be affected. Gale-force winds may cause the captain to change course and head to a different port than the one on your itinerary. Relax, and go with the flow.

If you experience rough water just hope you have a strong stomach. Mechanical problems aren't common, but they may occur. They could cause the captain to reduce speed or to find a closer port.

You may be cruising a part of the world experiencing civil unrest. If there is a sudden uprising at a particular port it makes sense for the captain to avoid it and pick a safer spot for you to go ashore.

Whatever happens on your cruise, keep smiling and maintain your sense of humor. Remember to be considerate to others and to exhibit common courtesy at all times. You're on vacation! Enjoy it! There is such a thing as travel etiquette, or cruise ship etiquette, and if you heed the advice above you will enjoy your trip more and so will the people around you.
