Want to Throw Them Overboard? Cruise Lines Offer Better Family Options

A family vacation offers the potential for memories that will last a life time, a fact of which cruise lines are more than aware.
That's why they have created all inclusive family cruises and luxury family cruises so your time at sea will have something to offer both adults and children. You may even find cheap family cruises during the so-called "off" seasons of the year.

Which Companies Offer All Inclusive Family Cruises?

Disney Cruise Lines was created in 1995 and it is operated by The Walt Disney Company. The company owns two ships exclusively built for supporting parents and children, the Disney Magic and the Disney Wonder. Each vessel has a capacity for 2,400 passengers and a crew of 945.

Considered to be one of the best cruises for kids, these ships offer a series of amenities for the family. For example, the Oceaneer's club, a space that was built on a Peter Pan theme or the Oceaneer's Lab offering a series of science-related activities. Teens aren't left behind. Their space is called Aloft and is designed as a studio loft with areas for watching TV, listening to music, or playing games.

One of the biggest advantages of Disney family cruises is that the corporation owns a private island in the Bahamas, Castaway Cay modeled to look like a community of shipwrecked souls living and working in fragments of their ruined vessels.

Carnival Cruise Line doesn't fall behind Disney in offering cruises for kids. Since they know that all inclusive family cruises represent an important percentage of the market, they have implemented a series of activities for both parents and children at Camp Carnival.

The activities included in the Club involve both the mind and the body. A child can go through a series of physical activities during the day and complement it with a session in the science section. Included activities are designed for children from the ages of 2 to 15.

Holland America Line was once considered as a cruise ship company for seniors, not part of the all inclusive family cruises. But in the last years they have been working on ways to attract younger clients, including their families. That's why they have created Club HAL where children can participate in games, tournaments and a series of daily activities. Parents should be aware, however, that Holland America doesn't see this club as a way to entertain kids all day long. If you are looking for full day of entertainment for your children, then another cruise line would be a better choice.

On the other hand, Celebrity Cruise Line has a full-featured Family Program that offers entertainment for the whole family. It provides activities for children and young adults from 3 to 17 years of age. At the beginning of the day a list of activities is posted for passengers to read. They include games, sports and parties. Parents can feel safe leaving their children since they are supervised by specialized Celebrity personnel.
