Although cruises are often considered a destination for couples or families, adult singles cruises are popular and more affordable than ever.

Even the best cruises for singles are now well within the budget of any single individual. Unfortunately, thanks to negative or unsavory portrayals of such trips in television programs and in motion pictures, many people shy away from even considering a singles cruise as a viable option.

What Is A Single Cruise?
Although the language is quite self-explanatory, there are some stereotypes associated with the phrase "singles cruise" that aren't really true. Television and the movies have portrayed singles cruises as little more than floating bars where slick would-be Romeos harass women and Lotharios trip off to the bedroom with any woman who will say "yes." While it is important to remember that on any trip where adults congregate, adult things are liable to happen, singles cruises are not orchestrated to facilitate such activities in a cheap or tawdry way nor do they cater to people of either gender who are "on the make."

The main intention of a singles cruise is not a romantic escapade. The real objective is to offer entertainment and diversion for people who want to travel alone but who also want to engage in group activities. Although it's probable that you will meet someone with whom you could share time, it doesn't mean that was the intention of the cruise ship company or that the settings are designed for "hook-ups."

The activities on a singles cruise are almost identical to those you would expect on any cruise but given the fact that none of the participants are likely to know one another excursions and shipboard activities focus on the entertainment of the group. The idea is to have fun with the new people for the duration of the trip.
